I have complete set of prospector equipment, all seven pieces. I have unlocked the 3rd gem slot in several of the pieces and inserted the prospector gem. I have researched the set bonus up through level nine. still the tiles are not shielded. It is impossible to go any higher, but according to what read, different levels of the bonus should apply at different levels. so the gem should work according to what it says. It does not state you need one in each piece of the prospector equipment, just says additional gems let you shield more then one tile. As long as you have a 5 piece base set (all level 6 gear) your hero march will automatically shield when it gets to the resource. The other marches shield when you have a 7 piece set and prospector gems in the 4th (star shaped) slot of each piece of gear. Whatever level prospector gems you have on the gear set will be the levels of resources you can shield on. (If you have all lvl6 prospector gems on your gear you can even send marches to the forest and they will shield on resources there.)
